All art drawing condensed into a short and comprehensive course.

The Intensive Artistic Drawing Course intends to sharpen the participants’ eyes and artistic curiosity towards the world and helps them to dive further into various and more experimental drawing techniques and materials.

The course will guide the participants along various exercises of classical and gestural drawing with various focuses and attention to line, form, volume, light, shadow, movement, composition and interpretation, experienced through the use of various materials and subjects, drawing from life, photographs or imagination. For life drawing there will be two sessions with life models and also one or more visits to museums or other interesting locations in the city of Rome.

At the end of the course, a certificate of attendance will be issued, based on attendance in at least 8 of the 10 lectures, for a possible recognition of 2 ECTS.

In the Intensive Artistic Drawing II Course the participants will have the opportunity to enhance their mindful observation capabilities and how to consciously translate an impression into line, form, volume, light, shadow, movement, composition and interpretation through the use of various techniques, exercises and materials.

Topics and applied techniques addressed by the course
– Basic notions of perception theory for drawing;
– Light and shadow, shading techniques, greyscale: how to create volume;
– The line and negative space: contour, movement and expressiveness;
– Gestural drawing techniques: interpretation and representation;
– Drawing from life (objects, life models, outings depending on the interests of the participants);
– Drawing from grid (focus on line and shape);
– The human body (proportions, structure, foreshortening, movement,);
– Portrait (proportions, structure, portraiture);
– Introduction and experimentation with different materials (graphite, charcoal, chalk, ink, markers);

Material:
– Drawing block A3 white smooth or semi-rough paper;
– 2 Pieces of black paper A3;
– Graphite or pencils 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B;
– Eraser and kneaded eraser;
– Pencil sharpener or hobby knife;
– Ruler minimum 40 cm;
– Charcoal (sticks and pencil);
– Blending stumps (small, medium, large);
– White chalk (stick and pencil);
– Fixative for charcoal/chalk (or hairspray)
– Pen (bic);
– Marker (0.1 , 0.3 , 0.5);
– Ink (black, 30 ml);
– Ink pen (or wooden stick);
– Round brushes (small-medium-large);
– Occasional photocopies on request

Visual artist born 1993 in Denmark, based in Rome since 2014. Graduated in BA in Painting in 2017 and MA in Graphic Arts in 2020 in RUFA, winning several grants and completing an internship at Archivio Pizzi Cannella at Pastificio Cerere San Lorenzo in 2017. From 2017-2022 she worked as freelance archaeological illustrator for S.H. Andersen, Moesgaard Museum (DK). In 2022 together with the artist Elisa Selli she co-founded Lea APS (non-profit cultural association for social promotion), an independent artist-run project space, and Artificio, Art Lab for people affected by Down Syndrome. Since 2021 she has been teaching Painting and Drawing; she has been engaged in tutoring high school and art academy students affected by Down Syndrome; and in 2023 she started as teaching assistant for artist and Prof. Andrea Aquilanti at the MA Painting course in RUFA. She participates in various group shows, artists residencies and art contests in Italy and abroad: recently she has been invited for a series of international group shows at 8. Salon in Hamburg (DE), Springtime Art-Camp Artist Residency organized by the Cultural Ministry of Azerbaijan in Baku (AZ), Ladispolaneamente Artist Residency in Ladispoli (IT) and Seminaria Sogninterra Biennale d’Arte Ambientale VIa Edizione in Maranola (IT).
