RUFA is pleased to present the 2026 edition of RUFA ON SCREEN, the biennial film showcase created to promote and support the work of RUFA students and Alumni from the Cinema, Film Arts, and Computer Animation and Visual Effects programs.
RUFA ON SCREEN will be an opportunity to present on the big screen the audiovisual works created by RUFA students and graduates (graduates from September 2023 onwards), give them visibility, and establish direct contact with the film industry through opportunities for discussion with professionals, production companies, distributors, and promoters.
The showcase will take place in Rome from April 14 to 16, 2026, and screenings will also be open to the public.
Each participant meeting the requirements of art. 2 of the call for entries, whether a current student or alumnus, may submit one or more audiovisual works in the following categories:
1) Best Fiction Short Film, max 15’ (excluding titles)
2) Best Animated or Experimental Work, max 15’ (excluding titles)
3) Best Documentary Film (experimental or not), max 1h15 (including titles)
The three official awards consist of three distribution contracts. Works that already have distribution contracts in place may only compete for the audience and jury awards. Continue reading to discover more details.
AWARDS
RUFA ON SCREEN 2026 will grant the following awards:
Official Awards
1) Best Fiction Short Film, max 15’ (excluding titles)
2) Best Animated or Experimental Work, max 15’ (excluding titles)
3) Best Documentary Film (experimental or not), max 75 minutes (including titles)
The three official awards consist of three distribution contracts – one for each award category – with a minimum duration of one year, aimed at submitting the works to national and international festivals.
Special Promotion Award
Rai Cinema Channel, media partner of RUFA ON SCREEN 2026, will independently assign an award to support the promotion and communication of the selected work through its own channels.
Audience Award
The audience award will be determined by the votes received by each work at the end of the screenings.
RUFA ON SCREEN 2026 partner companies and organizations may also assign additional awards (for distribution, promotion, or other purposes) to works deemed particularly deserving.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Eligible students and alumni will receive an invitation email on 1 November from the RUFA Contest platform. It will therefore be possible to register for the Call from 1 November 2025 to 21 January 2026.
Candidates must submit digitally all materials required in the call for entries no later than January 21, 2026.
