What is Tracks of Freedom?

“micro-Macro” is the theme proposed for the 2025 edition of Tracks of Freedom, the annual project that takes a group of Master of Arts students in Visual and Innovation Design to New York for a unique professional experience. The trip offers a valuable opportunity to explore new design and artistic approaches by immersing students in the city’s cultural, social and visual landscape. Over nine days of talks, studio visits and research activities, students transform the energy of the Big Apple into creative ideas and experimental outputs.

During the programme, students take part in meetings and visits to internationally renowned studios and institutions, including Pentagram, School of Visual Arts, The Cooper Union, Salotto, Gretel, Matteo Bologna, Daniele Politini, Steven Heller, Louise Fili and other key players in contemporary design.

The itinerary also includes visits to iconic museums and cultural sites — MoMA, Whitney Museum, Museum of the City of New York, Guggenheim, Herb Lubalin Center, Poster Museum — offering students a comprehensive immersion into New York’s cultural landscape and its visual influences.
All these stimuli feed into the design phase, shaping the concepts presented in the micro-Macro exhibition.
