The RUFA Talks 2025/2026 series continues with its first event at the Milan campus, featuring Michelangelo Frammartino, film director and author, as guest speaker.
The talk begins with a reflection on the role of images in contemporary society, questioning their status and bringing them closer to the concept of presence rather than representation. Drawing on his own artistic journey and the work of selected reference authors, Frammartino will explore an idea of the image capable of acquiring density and intensity, driven by the desire to share with the things of the world the same quality of existence.
Born in Milan in 1968 to Calabrian parents originally from Caulonia, Michelangelo Frammartino established himself on the international cinematic scene with Il Dono (2003), his first feature film shot on 16mm, which premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival.
In 2010 he directed Le Quattro Volte, selected for the Cannes Film Festival within the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, where it received the Europe Cinemas Label. In 2013, he presented the single-channel video installation Alberi at the Dome of MoMA PS1 in New York, expanding his language towards contemporary art.

In 2021, his third feature film, Il Buco, was selected for competition at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Prize.
The talk officially inaugurates the RUFA Talks 2025/2026 series at the Milan campus, opening a space for shared reflection on cinema, the image, and their ability to become sensory experience and presence.
Registration for the talk will be available starting from Tuesday 20 January 2026.
The Talks are open to all RUFA students. To register, access the RUFA Career System using your credentials.
