Fulbright Program Information Session: Study and Research Opportunities in the United States

RUFA is hosting an information session dedicated to study and research opportunities in the United States, with a focus on Fulbright scholarships for AFAM graduates. The initiative represents an important orientation opportunity for students interested in pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in the USA.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, in room G13 (via Libetta) and is open to all students. The presentation of the Fulbright Program is particularly addressed to students in the third year of First-Level Academic Diplomas and the second year of Second-Level Academic Diplomas, but participation is open to the entire student community.

The event will be structured in two sessions.

FIRST SESSION – Prof. Pouya Afshar

The first session, from 2:00 PM to approximately 2:30 PM, will take place in person and in English and will be led by Prof. Pouya Afshar, Fulbright Specialist. During the meeting, Afshar will present his professional background and showcase a selection of his works. He is currently Associate Professor of Art and Design at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Born in Tehran, he studied Character Animation at the California Institute of the Arts and obtained an MFA in Animation and Digital Media from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Throughout his career, he has exhibited in museums, galleries, and art fairs in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. His works are part of the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Denver Art Museum, and the Detroit Institute of Arts. He has also delivered lectures at Stanford University, Harvard University, Princeton University, University of Southern California, School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, and the University of California, Los Angeles. His activities also include collaborations on film, animation, and multimedia projects, as well as an extensive portfolio that includes animated series, graphic novels, comics, and children’s books.

SECOND SESSION – Dr. Cambriani

The second session, starting at 2:30 PM, will take place online and in Italian and will be led by Dr. Cambriani. The presentation will provide an overview of Fulbright opportunities for the 2027/2028 academic year, aimed at AFAM graduates interested in continuing their studies in the United States with a Master’s degree or a Ph.D.

During the presentation, participants will learn about the structure of the U.S. higher education system, the admission requirements, and the application procedures both for universities and for the Fulbright Program. The activities of the Fulbright Commission and the EducationUSA network will also be presented. The meeting will conclude with a session dedicated to questions and clarifications from participants.
