A Biennale to remember and a first step that excites. Alumni RUFA student Beatrice Baldacci, thanks to the direction of the film “Supereroi senza Superpoteri”, received the special mention FEDIC (Federazione italiana dei Cineclub) for the best short film.
The award in question was presented in the evocative setting of the Hotel Excelsior on the Lido di Venezia. The jury, chaired by Alfredo Baldi and composed of Alessandro Cuk, Laura Forcella Iascone, Antonella Santarelli and Luciano Volpi, highlighted the goodness of the work done, describing it as “a moving tribute to the mother, a strong mother present and affectionate, by her daughter through amateur video images belonging to the family of the author. A film that you follow with pleasure and passion.
“Supereroi senza Superpoteri” is an autobiographical project in which the young author recounts her relationship with her mother, from her childhood to the present day: a path of absolute personal elaboration of some moments of her life, developed on the discovery of old videotapes in which numerous moments of cohabitation with the mother figure had been recorded. “As in the VHS inevitably ruined – explained Beatrice – so are the memories of our childhood, consumed by time hidden in our memory. The cassette goes into play, all kinds of images appear on the screen. From this new “discovery”, a story unfolds that, between illness and personal memories of the mother, sees a child react and grow up in the face of a reality no longer protected.
The film was produced by the Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico as part of the “Premio Zavattini – Unarchive” supported by SIAE, MiBACT, through the call “Sillumina” and the Lazio Region. It was realized in collaboration with Istituto Luce Cinecittà and is distributed by Elenfant Film.
