Tuesday, November 26 Ceramiche Rometti in RUFA

RUFA Pastificio Cerere in via degli Ausoni 7 will host a delegation from the Ceramiche Rometti group, who will meet with third year design students as part of a lesson given by lecturer Meltem Eti Proto. It will be the right opportunity to present the Rometti 2020 Award and officially present the recognition received to the student Lodovica Losso, who won the 2019 edition: a cash prize of one thousand euros and an internship. The KHNUM vase, designed by the student, as happened in the past for the other works, will be exhibited in the Rometti Gallery, at the Fabbrica Moderna (FA.MO.) in Umbertide (Pg), in the contemporary section of the exhibition area.

The works, introduced by the director RUFA Fabio Mongelli, will focus on the reports by Massimo Monini, Maurizio Pucci and David Menghini, which, in turn, will be anticipated by a historical excursus on the origins of the company and on how young people have always been central in the development of the manufacture. It should be pointed out that Rometti is one of the very few companies to have a museum that tells its own story. The aim of the meeting is to analyse the future of Made in Italy, opening up to the languages of international design.

It should be remembered, in fact, that Rometti has been making artistic ceramics since 1927 and since the beginning of its activity has availed itself of the collaboration of young artists, such as Corrado Cagli, Dante Baldelli and Mario Di Giacomo. They had the opportunity to experiment, creating authentic masterpieces of so-called applied art.

With the establishment of the prize, Rometti intends to confirm the centrality of collaboration with young people and encourage formal experiments with an original and innovative character, following the themes of Art-design already undertaken some time ago with the recent lines of products for furniture. A scenario that is linked to the 2020 edition of the award that includes many interesting innovations.
