RUFA and AND, together to celebrate Dante

A first step of a common path that, from now on, will generate more and more interesting performances, interweaving the expressive potential of the protagonists: on one side RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, on the other AND – National Academy of Dance. At the center of the action, the peculiarities of the videodance to allow in all contexts, to be an integral and participatory part of the show.

This first experience focused on the figure of Dante, seven hundred years after his death, in a contemporary reconstruction of the scenes from Inferno. In a sequence of images and landscapes we wanted to generate an event that, from now until next November, will involve 7 paths, 3 cities, 1 Canticle.

The project is curated by Maria Enrica Palmieri, director of the National Academy of Dance and is sponsored by the National Committee for the celebrations of 700 years since the death of Dante Alighieri, the Presidency of the Capitoline Assembly and the Municipality of Ravenna. The participation of RUFA, in this start-up phase as relevant as ever for the success of the entire program, has allowed the lecturer of the School of Photography and Audiovisual Alessandro Carpentieri, to coordinate a group of students in the creation of a trailer, useful to communicate the steps that will be on the horizon from here to the next months.

The filming was carried out by the students Armando Egidi, Andrea Ferretti, Sabina Ismaylova, Mirko Pizzichini, Chiara Preti and Ayla Mueller who also did the editing. The music is by Paolo Fresu while the voices are by the Reading Group of the elderly of the Televita Association (III Municipio). The electronic elaborations and the musical mixing have been entrusted to Luca Spagnoletti (Saint Louis College of Music).
