Freshly Brewed Seat

DESIGNERS: Ana Morais / Ines Fialho / Audrey De Vleeschauwer

Freshly brewed seat is a project that emerged from the collaboration of 3 non Italians, living and studying in Italy together, strangers to each other until, with the help of a good cup of coffee, they soon discovered that they actually complemented each other.
One of the common traits is the main struggle that digital nomads face during their time abroad: the difficulty in building connections and relationships. And here is when coffee can be more than just a drink, it can literally and figuratively bring people together. Coffee is, in fact, one of the most popular beverages on earth, but sadly enough also very unsustainable. The coffee industry alone produces 23 million tons of waste per year. The objective of this project is to use coffee waste material as the main component.
Stepping forward to the circular design mindset, the coffee waste combined with recycled polypropylene makes it possible to reuse, recycle or re-print the piece of furniture, over and over, in a continuous loop. Freshly Brewed Seat is composed of 3 modules that are multifunctional and versatile and that can be combined in different positions and settings: to work, interact and chat at the same time. It is designed for public spaces and businesses that want to provide indoors and outdoors with a sculptural, organic and feminine identity.

What is more social than coffee?
