On 16 June 2026 at 5:00 PM, as part of the RUFA Culture Fest, LOG-OUT. Four Comics to Escape… Creatively! will be presented, an editorial project born from the collaboration between participants in a creative writing workshop held inside Rome’s Rebibbia Prison and RUFA students from the Graphic Design – Comics and Illustration programme.
The initiative represents a meaningful example of how comics can become a tool for dialogue, collaboration and the shared construction of narratives, bringing together different experiences and life paths through the language of writing and visual storytelling.
The project originated from Amore buio, an original story written by Matteo Agliardi, a participant in the writing workshop held within the correctional facility. Starting from this narrative, RUFA students developed four original stories, written and illustrated collectively: Patto al buio, Quando il buio chiama, Amore Insipido and Click, la tua nuova vita.
The result is a comic anthology that highlights the value of the creative process as a shared experience, capable of transforming an initial idea into a plurality of visions and narrative languages. Through scriptwriting, illustration and editorial design, the students contributed to giving new form to a story born in a unique context, experiencing first-hand the power of storytelling as a means of connection.
The project is part of the broader collaboration established by RUFA with Rebibbia Prison, created with the aim of bringing educational and creative projects into the correctional facility through the direct involvement of the Academy’s students and lecturers. In recent years, this collaboration has led to the delivery of Graphic Design and Editorial Design courses for inmates, as well as the creation of the magazine Non Tutti Sanno, reaffirming the value of creativity as a tool for personal growth, inclusion and participation.
Within this framework, LOG-OUT represents a further step forward: a project that brings together writing, illustration and editorial design, transforming a story born within the correctional facility into a collective work created together with RUFA students.
LOG-OUT was created through the involvement of a large group of students from the courses Creative Writing 2, Comics Art 2 and Elements of Editorial Design. The project also features photographs by Aleksander Musa, layout design by Irene Parrotta, and was coordinated by lecturers Claudio Spuri, Luigi Iacobelli, Giulio Antonio Gualtieri and Emilio Lecce.
The presentation will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the role of artistic practice as a tool for participation and connection. Through a discussion with the authors and project promoters, the audience will discover the process behind the creation of the publication and the collaborative dynamics that made it possible.
