Rometti Prize 2020 the wait will be sweet!

For the last phase of the Rometti Prize, the stage and the production of the design idea, we will unfortunately have to wait for better times.

The continuing emergency from Covid-19 and the restrictions currently in force, do not allow the prestigious Umbrian manufacture to host the students in the company in complete safety. However, and it is good to stress this, the initiatives are only postponed. In fact, the Award represents a valuable opportunity for young creative people, but also a resource for the manufacture itself, which can thus always count on new stimuli and new ideas.

“The 2020 Award internship – Rometti explains – will be held at the first useful moment when students will not be engaged with academic activities, in the summer of 2021, when the activities related to the next Rometti Award will also take place. During next summer we will therefore host this year’s interns and those who will be selected in 2021 and there will be two separate awards ceremonies accordingly”.

The announcement of the Rometti Prize 2021 will be released in September, so as to facilitate the work of the tutors when they plan activities for the next academic year. But that’s not all. A new important appointment is looming on the horizon. Last winter,” explained the top management of the company based in Umbertide, “when we published the announcement for the eighth edition, we came up with the idea of adding a special edition, a “Prize of Prizes”, addressed by invitation to the winning students of previous years.

We immediately liked the possibility of contacting them again and rewarding their talent. The students joined with enthusiasm and set to work to amaze us again. The material arrived is of great quality and creativity. In this excellence of made in Italy, the “RUFA – Experience” are certainly not few: Delfina Scarpa (Rometti Prize 2016), Lodovica Losso (Rometti Prize 2019), Veronica Mascelluti and Gaia Rossi Merighi (Rometti Prize 2017).

It will be the manufactory’s task to create all the prototypes that will be exhibited at the Rometti Museum and in Milan at the Cologni Foundation. The project that will be declared the winner will be put into production and presented in Paris at the prestigious Maison & Objet exhibition”.
