On the occasion of the Centenary of the Rome PEF Unit of the Fiamme Gialle, RUFA and Istituto Matteucci students collaborated to create a beautiful Mural decorating the Guardia di Finanza Headquarters building in the Serpentara district.
A work that stands out on a surface of more than 65 metres by three, inspired by one of the sporting activities in which the Guardia di Finanza traditionally excels, rowing. A masonry work in bright, vivid colours, in open dialogue with the surrounding park and greenery.
For six days, five RUFA Visual Arts students – Andrea Arioli, Mirta Leuti, Andrea Lancianese, Sofia Sovico e Matilda Volpini – and five students from the Matteucci Institute – Veronica Ciobanu, Christian Di Marco, Ysa Tamara Encisa, Linda Ferrara, Anna Tsymbaliuk – worked side by side, with enthusiasm and motivation, to create together a work that would enhance the building and its urban context.
TThe project was initiated at the request of the Nucleo di Polizia Economico Finanziaria of the Guardia di Finanza in Via Talli, on the occasion of the centenary of the establishment of the Nucleo della GdiF in Rome, and was supervised by teachers Maria Pina Bentivenga, Fabrizio Dell’Arno and Erika Lavosi, who had the opportunity to confront and interface directly with Lieutenant CS Domenico Marciano. The support of Maria Gemelli, Headmistress of the Carlo Matteucci Technical Institute in Rome, and deputy headmaster Silvia Giannì was instrumental in realising the intervention.
After submitting an initial draft – immediately welcomed with enthusiasm – to the Guardia di Finanza for approval, a fruitful collaboration was initiated, in which the RUFA artists had the opportunity to guide and support the younger students of the Matteucci Institute in the realisation of the wall work.
The work will be officially opened in September 2023, more details soon!
