5,000 euro call for two art residencies in Beijing

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing, the Garuzzo Institute for Visual Arts and the National Art Museum of China have announced the call “Italy-China” edition 2019. The aim is to encourage the development of the personal knowledge and experience of the young winners and to support artistic research by comparing different environments with a perspective of international exchange, as well as to promote cultural relations between Italy and China.

For artists who decide to take part in the project, it is possible to obtain bonuses of 5,000 euros for two artistic residencies in Beijing, with the aim of making an idea come true. During the residency each winning artist will realize the project presented at the time of the application.

The deadline for the submission of applications is June 7 at 12 am. The prize is addressed to artists of Italian citizenship between 18 and 35 years with at least a collective and a personal exhibition and a good knowledge of English (B2).

The two residency scolarships of two-month each in Beijing include round-trip travel (excluding visas), 5,000 euros of which 3,000 to cover the cost of accommodation and meals and 2,000 for the production of the works, availability of space to work in contact with the Chinese artistic and cultural environment with the support of tutors.

The works produced will be the subject of an exhibition to be held until the end of the residency in a location identified by the National Art Museum of China.

A high definition photographic documentation of the works created and exhibited in Beijing and the relative final catalogue will also be provided.
