Born in Florence in 1984. He graduated from DAMS at the University of Bologna and completed the two-year master’s programme at the Cineteca di Bologna, directed by Giuseppe Bertolucci. In 2010, he wrote and directed the short film Storia di Nessuno, which received numerous international awards.
In 2013, he wrote and directed the documentary film Centoquaranta – La strage dimenticata, about the Moby Prince disaster. Premiered at the 54th Festival dei Popoli, it won the 32nd Bellaria Film Festival and the Silver Lily at the 65th Cinema Fedic, before being broadcast in prime time on LA7.
In 2018, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Tutte le mie notti, starring Benedetta Porcaroli and Barbora Bobulova, produced by Mompracem with Rai Cinema. The film premiered at the 13th Rome Film Festival and, among its recognitions, earned Benedetta Porcaroli a Nastro d’Argento award as Best Breakthrough Actress.
In 2022, he wrote and directed the documentary Bice Lazzari – Il ritmo e l’ossessione, selected for the 17th Rome Film Festival and broadcast in prime time on Sky Arte.
In 2023, he wrote and directed the film Non riattaccare, starring Barbara Ronchi and Claudio Santamaria. The film was the only Italian entry in the international competition at the 41st Torino Film Festival, where Barbara Ronchi received a Special Mention for her performance, and it was also screened at the 32nd Raindance Film Festival in London. It was released in Italian cinemas by IWonder and in French cinemas by Wild Bunch.
In 2024, he wrote and directed the documentary Il Complotto di Tirana, produced by Small Boss with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission. Premiered at the 19th Rome Film Festival, it was selected by FICE among the five best documentaries of the year, securing theatrical distribution. It received numerous international awards, including the Jury Prize at the 43rd edition of FIFA – International Festival of Films on Art in Montréal, Canada. The documentary was acquired and broadcast by Mymovies, Sky Arte, Filmin (Spain and Portugal) and Art Film Canada.
In television, he has produced documentaries for the Franco-German channel ARTE, RSI, RAI and Sky.
Since 2021, he has been teaching Cinematography and Film Directing at RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts.
