Paola Ungaro

Fashion designer & Art director, founder of “PAOLA UNGARO STUDIO DESIGN”. After graduating from the Academy of Costume and Fashion in Rome and consolidating her training by working for important fashion houses, such as Renato Balestra, Pino Lancetti, Miguel Cruz and Gattinoni, she has been running her own consultancy firm since 1990, collaborating with well-known companies in Italy and abroad, such as the Miroglio Vestebene Group – ten-year design collaboration on the various brands of the group- Merc London, Sarah Lawrence, Piazza Italia, Blunauta\Ballon, ITTIERRE for the various knitwear licenses: Pop84, Versace Versus, Trussardi Action and L.Biagiotti.

She has received important international awards and recognitions such as the Modipel Award in Milan for the project: “Design in Italian Fur” and the invitation to represent Italian fashion design at Beijing CHIC in 2005.
Professor since 1995 of “Technology of Textile Materials/Textile Culture” at various Academies including IED (European Institute of Design), Academy of Costume and Fashion and Academy of Fine Arts. Expert in tailoring techniques, fabrics and fibers, she has been dealing with sustainability and eco-design for several years. Since 2019 she has been collaborating with AGI, the Italian Journalistic Agency as a blogger, on sustainability issues in the textile/fashion sector.

She collaborated with CIA (Italian Confederation of Farmers, Women in the field) as a consultant for the “Agritessuti” project: “Landscapes” to wear in 2019.
She has published 2 manuals: Technology. Innovation. Sustainability. Know the textile materials. Volume 1 and volume 2.
