New talk in the Academy “Television: from idea to broadcasting”, with TV producer Marco Cingoli as a guest. Curated by Elisabetta Villaggio.

TV producer Marco Cingoli is responsible for the development and production of unscripted original programme-formats, as well as for scouting international markets and acquiring products suitable for the Italian market.
Under his responsibility, programmes such as “Il Supplente” (Rai 2 and Discovery), “Conversazione su Tiresia – di e con Andrea Camilleri” (cinema and Rai 1), “Pigiama Rave” (Rai 4) – “Amore Criminale” e “Sopravvissute” (Rai 3) were produced.

During the meeting with RUFA students, Marco Cingoli gave an overview of the world of television production, addressing the following topics in particular:

• Overview of various television genres: scripted vs unscripted (main genres and sub-genres);
• What is a ‘palimpsest’? Linear TV vs. personal choice (on demand);
• Original ideas vs ‘imported and adapted’ formats;
• Who ‘invents’ programmes? The role of the Creative Producer and the Authors;
• How to Pitch? With concrete examples;
• Difference between live vs. recorded broadcasts, what really changes?
• Quick excursus on key figures/principals of TV (Producer, Director, DoP, set designers, costume designers, etc.), and differences with the world of cinema;
• How to define and manage budgets, PoPs, contracts, etc.
• The role of marketing and press office for the launch of programmes;
• The crucial choice of anchorwoman or conductor;
• The audience figures: what they tell us.

The meeting is organised by Elisabetta Villaggio, director and RUFA lecturer on the Cinema Bachelor of Arts.
