Narcissus and Echo, Story of a Metamorphosis is a video-artistic tragedy that takes the myth of Narcissus and Echo, narrated in Ovid’s Metamorphoses, and reworks it through an audiovisual and performative gaze that does not lose sight of the structure of classical tragedy.
The work is a multisensory flow that opens with a prologue, is divided into five chapters and ends with an epilogue that preserves the key to its interpretation. The mythological tale is retraced through images that become living concepts within the thought, pictorial works, syncopated words, and an electronic musical carpet alternating tribal and ethereal sounds. The combination of these elements creates an inner world that flows into the observation of Nature, mirroring a conceptual space in which the two mythological characters take on a new form of existence.

The protagonists of the screen are therefore the two great universal archetypes that through the voice and body of Flaminia Cuzzoli (Narcissus) and Caterina Crescini (Echo) become human, animating a vortex of emotions and feelings with the desire to trace a continuity and mirroring between myth and man, between classicism and contemporaneity.
The project was born from the recovery of a personal and shared artistic background that we discovered had a singular affinity with the myth of Narcissus and Echo.
Hence the idea of rewriting this story in a multifaceted way that invites the spectator to embark on a journey that is seductive and deceptive, authentic and illusory, with the intention of making us reflect on the capacity to evolve, metamorphosis, as the only form of survival and salvation when faced with the border between image and reality, between idealisation and truth. Because after all, as Ovid, who already knew everything about human nature, suggests, this dilemma grips Narcissus but belongs to everyone, and yet his form changes incessantly within us and gives life to new stories.
