Published the announcement for the MATTADOR Award

Everything is ready for the twelfth edition of the international screenplay award MATTADOR dedicated to Matteo Caenazzo, a young Triestine graduated in painted decoration and student of cinema at the University Ca ‘Foscari of Venice, who died prematurely on 28th June 2009.

The award, addressed to young Italian and foreign authors from 16 to 30 years old, has four sections:
MATTADOR prize to the best feature film screenplay;
MATTADOR prize for the best subject;
CORTO86 award for the best short film screenplay;
DOLLY “Illustrating cinema” award to the best story told through images.

The competition offers 5,000 euros for the prize dedicated to the best screenplay for a full-length film and 1,500 euros for the best subject. The finalists for the best subject will be awarded with a training grant that will allow them to be accompanied by professional screenwriters in a development path of their projects. At the end of the training path, the best development work will receive a dedicated prize.

The CORTO86 award for the best short film screenplay also consists of a training grant and the realization of a short film based on the winning screenplay. And finally, the DOLLY “Illustrating Cinema” award, addressed to the best story told through images, which includes a training grant with the presence of professional tutors in a personalized development path based on the nature of the idea, with the elaboration of a complete dossier of presentation of a film or animation project. At the end of the training path, according to the commitment and the result of the internship, the tutors can award an additional prize of 1,000 euros.

RUFA students will be able to participate in all sections of the contest, with particular attention to the DOLLY “Illustrating cinema” award, generated to involve young authors capable of creating, through an idea, images that tell a story, that unite a graphic world with a narrative world.

The deadline for submissions is 15th February to 15th April 2021, while the awards ceremony for the winners will take place on the 17th July in Venice in the Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice.
