VIDEOCITTà

Multimedia Arts and Design

RUFA at Videocittà

The fifth edition of Videocittà Festival will be held from 20 to 24 July at the unique and extraordinary spaces of the Gazometro in Rome.

Lecturer Caterina Tomeo will participate as curator and presenter of a cycle of talks dedicated to “electronic transmutations” and to the trespassing between different disciplinary fields, which will host leading artists from the international scene such as Max Cooper, Fuse, Daito Manabe, Maotik, Mokadelic, Franz Rosati & many more.

On 22 July, the students of the master’s degree course in Multimedia Arts and Design, coordinated by Caterina Tomeo, will present for the first time “Prometheus”, an audiovisual performance featuring man and technology in our days, two central themes in this new edition of Videocittà.

Also participating in the Festival will be lecturer Filippo Gualazzi with the group Mimesi, who will present the performance “Diade“, focusing on the concept of duality, understood as the manifestation of two parts: the one and the whole. Starting from the tangibility of the real world, bound by physical laws, we gradually arrive at an aseptic and unconditioned digital reality. Limit and limitless are thus the two protagonists of the show, through the juxtaposition of concreteness and abstraction.
With an eye on the new generations, finally, is the Kids Section of the Festival, dedicated to the youngest and curated by Explora – the Children’s Museum of Rome. Inside the workshop area for children will be the interactive installation “Feed my emotions” by professors Ultravioletto and Michal Zemel (a recent graduate of the two-year RUFA Multimedia course), the result of the “Liberty” project co-financed by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme. A game, but also a challenge that invites us to reflect on the relationship between us and machines, examining a peculiar aspect of human beings: emotions.

All RUFA students and lecturers will be entitled to a 20% discount on the entrance fee through a discount code received by e-mail.
