PCTO: students from Institute A. Frammartino guests at RUFA

From 23 to 27 November 2023 twenty-two very young students of the Institute “A. Frammartino” in Monterotondo were guests at RUFA as part of the project “PCTO – Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e per l’Orientamento” (formerly Alternanza Scuola Lavoro).

The aim of the initiative is to orient high school students to the world of work, further education and to develop transversal skills.
Over the course of a week at RUFA, students from the A. Frammartino Institute explored the essential elements of design: reason and genesis of form, visual message structure and methodologies and storytelling, under the guidance of the illustrator, graphic designer and RUFA lecturer Francesco Fidani.

At the end of the one-week workshop, the students were able to produce a paper in digital and printed form, a veritable ‘Visual Curriculum Vitae’ capable of narrating their educational and professional journey, and thus their technical, linguistic and aptitude skills through the powerful medium of images. A text was also developed to enhance narrative and informative aspects through the management of thei traditional graphic design languages (illustration, typography, illustration).

The development of the paper involved a vertical approach to the project, starting with the organisation of the content through to the creation of a concept, moodboard, colour palette, layout drafts, text and image production through to layout and export.

PCTO – Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e per l’Orientamento (‘Transversal Skills and Orientation Pathways’)
A highly innovative teaching methodology introduced in 2003, which allows high school students to combine their school education with a period of practical experience at a public or private organisation, translating theoretical concepts into practical notions gained in the field. An initial contact with the world of work that will prove fundamental in guiding students in their future choices.
