“Bice Lazzari – Il ritmo e l’ossessione” at the Rome Film Festival

On Thursday 20 October, the lecturer Manfredi Lucibello will premiere at the Rome Film Festival the documentary: “Bice Lazzari – Il ritmo e l’ossessione”, starring the very young and talented Benedetta Porcarili.

Synopsis

Bice Lazzari’s life is a story of resistance, emancipation and freedom. Telling it is an opportunity to show the twentieth century from an unprecedented point of view, that of a woman who fought against the morals and customs of the time, to establish herself as an artist. Between testimonies and archives, the documentary is a portrait of the artist who made her life the manifesto of her art.

Director’s notes

Bice Lazzari was a revelation for me. In retracing her life, I discovered another 20th century. I discovered the story of a woman, before an artist, who rejected the place to which society had confined her. A woman who overcame wars and dictatorships, fathers and masters, fighting all her life on tiptoe, without weapons or slogans, but with canvas and brush. An artist who, with sacrifice and the courage to reinvent herself, has stood up to the profound changes in our country, managing to earn her place in the world, thus making her life the manifesto of her art. Bice Lazzari is an example of resistance. Telling her complex and wonderful path of emancipation is also a unique opportunity for me to try my hand and show the conflicts of the 20th century from the other side of the barricade, the female side.
