Simone Pappalardo

He graduated with honors in electronic music from the ‘Santa Cecilia’ Conservatory in Rome. For years he has been creating electronic compositions, interactive sound installations and “augmented” musical instruments. His works have been performed and staged in many international festivals: Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Beijing Conservatory for the Musicacoustica Festival, Romanian Academy, American Academy during various editions of the Nuova Consonanza festival, Macro Museum in Rome, Teatro del Globo in Buenos Aires, Artefiera in Bologna, Five Days Festival in Milan, Emufest, Manzù Collection Museum in Ardea, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Biennale of Young Mediterranean Artists in Athens, during the Open Museum Open City exhibition at the MAXXI in Rome, for the Digital Life festival of the Romaeuropa Foundation, BNL Media Art Festival, etc .. With the composition “hyde, for piano prepared stimulated by electromagnetic impulses” he won a special mention at the National Arts Award. He was responsible curator of the interactive sound installations section for the International Festival of Electroacoustic Music Emufest, of the Conservatory ‘Sa nta Cecilia ‘in Rome and for the Le Forme del Suono Festival organized by the’ Ottorino Respighi ‘Conservatory of Latina. He is currently a teacher of Electroacoustic Music Composition at the Conservatory of Aquila and of Sampling and Synthesis of Sound at the Conservatory of Latina.He has collaborated on several occasions as a sound engineer and multimedia consultant for the Maxxi foundation in Rome, to follow the various stages of design and installation of interactive and sound works. He has also created works and collaborated: for sound installations with the sculptor Alberto Timossi, with the artist Antonio Capaccio, with the Quite Ensemble, with the designer Gipi, with the director Fabian Ribezzo, with Casina Benedetta di Leone Monteduro, with the Brecce association for contemporary art, Digital World Foundation, Maxxi Foundation, Pedro Reyes; for music and composition with Mauro Lanza, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Walter Prati, the composer Paolo Rotili, the Alter Ego ensemble, the Lucelin ensemble, the clarinetist David Ryan, the clarinetist Paolo Ravaglia, Andrea Valle, Franz Rosati, Dario Sanfilippo ; the Iato Orchestra directed by Alvin Curran, Rinus Van Alebeek, with the publishing house Orecchio Acerbo, with the poet Valerio Magrelli for the show “the lesson of the river”, with the poet Paolo Damiani for the show “Heavenly Heaven”, Elio Martusciello, the flutist Gianni Trovalusci, with the writer Michael Raynolds, with the percussionist Marco Ariano, the collective Circuiterie, and many others; for theater and dance with the Butoh Lios Dance Company, the dancer Alessandra Cristiani, the Emotion company, the dancer Mariella Celia, with the Furio Camillo theater in Rome, the Trasform’azioni festival for which he directed three choreutic-musical performances, with the Palestinian director Akram Tellawe, with Ascanio Celestini in the show “sands”. As sound engineer, composer and multimedia design consultant he collaborated with: ENI Spa; Arch. Luca Ruzza of OpenLabCompany; Arch. Giampaolo Imbrighi (creator of the Italy pavilion at the Shanghai Expo); Maxxi Foundation, Orecchio Acerbo publishing house.
