Portfolio project

Portfolio project

This course addresses the delicate transitional phase between education and the workplace, between academia and the professional field. Effective career planning implies developing both the right mindset and relevant skills for successful self-promotion, with a view to current shifts and trends in the artistic-creative workforce. The process gets underway with students identifying the professional requirements of careers they are most attracted to and the areas of high demand for such skills. The aim is that of raising students’ awareness of their own knowledge and skills base gained over the three-year course of study; this then informs their choices and development of a professional portfolio which will serve as a vital tool in the transition between education and the workplace.

The course is run by Prof.ssa Cristina Pogliaghi and involves the preparation both a CV and a professional portfolio.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The ability to recognize not only already accomplished skills but also those to be acquired insomuch as they are demanded by the specific professional ambit a student aspires to access. The ability to assess whether one’s own resources are commercially viable in the workplace or require augmentation through further study. To be familiar with the various types of Italian employment contracts and receive some initial guidance on being self-employed. The ability to use tools of self-promotion suited to the context in question.
