RUFA supports the project “Plastica d’a-mare”

The environment between art and recycling. This is the ultimate aim of the call that the organizers of the project “Plastics of love” have intended to address to those who work in the world of creativity, in order to generate a reflection on the invasive effects that synthetic materials generate on nature.

“Plastica d’amare” is the event that aims to sensitize a heterogeneous public of all ages to the impact of plastic on marine ecosystems: performances, workshops, laboratories and a concert area dot the program of the event. The protagonists of the event will be the territory of the X Town Hall and Ostia Antica, whose coastline will be covered with guides from the WWF to discover and protect the natural environment. The marina of Rome will be the stage for workshops, concerts, live painting, laboratories that marry the cause #plasticfree.
The aim is to become aware of the problem. The boundaries of the emergency, in fact, are highlighted in the trends that the scientific community has assumed: it is estimated that in 2050 in the seas and oceans there will be more plastic than fish.

Artists who intend to present proposals and ideas to encourage both the reuse of plastics and the communication process, can propose ideas and projects on the subject. Participants will have the opportunity to exhibit their works or to perform with their performances during Plastica d’a-mare from 5 to 8 September in Ostia. The final of the contest will take place on Saturday, September 7 and the winner will receive a scholarship of 1,000 euros. The call deadline is August 19 2019, for more information see the website Plastica d’a-mare.

The event also aims to act as a catalyst for further awareness-raising initiatives on the subject. The event, in fact, also aims to progressively bring back the areas of the Porto Turistico and Ostia to be spaces of aggregation and social initiatives.
