LANDSCAPE 2022

March 16 was the official date of the next RUFA Talk: “LANDSCAPE 2022 – Interaction, Sound telling, Video telling”, curated by Caterina Tomeo.

During the Talk, the winning entries of the 2021 edition of the Call LANDSCAPE were presented, dedicated to sound artists and video artists, and promoted by collective Zeugma . The goal was to create an unpublished anthology of the contemporary landscape. The artists were invited to express themselves through the production of audiovisual works – which give particular relevance to the use of sound, using the interaction between man-territory understood as free interpretation and representation between historical signs and meanings, perceptive, environmental and anthropological of a specific type of landscape. The works – selected by a scientific committee of experts, including RUFA teacher Caterina Tomeo, Elio Martusciello, Leonardo Zaccone, Michele Palozzo, Luigi Iovine, Leandro Pisano, Giusy Caroppo, Elisa Trento, Giuliana Placanica, Peppe Trotta, Mirco Salvadori – will be presented at exhibitions, festivals and cultural events. In collaboration with RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, Imaginaria – animated film festival, Associazione SHAPE, Fondazione Alfonso Gatto, Spazio labus, Cineclub Canudo, Asfilmfestival, Good Vibes, Eclettica Cultura dell’arte, Vicoli Corti, CinemAvvenire, Spazio Chitrale, Paesaggi Sounds.

Spreading the Culture of Sound

Zeugma is a collective of sound artists that was created to raise awareness among the large group of professionals on a musical reality that cannot and must no longer be considered “other” but which composes a mosaic of genres and styles recognized and recognizable everywhere in the world.

The Talk’s protagonists

Anacleto Vitolo A.K.A. AV-K / K.lust / Kletus.K is part of the collectives X (i) NEON, Internos and Algebra del Bisogno, born on 2 August 1985 in Battipaglia (SA). He began his musical career in 1998 as a DJ mainly in Hip Hop. Shortly after he began to take an interest in music production until he reached the style that today takes the form of a mix of elements such as Industrial, Trip Hop, Glitch, Ambient, Noise, Concrete Music, Drone and Impro free-form. He graduated in New technologies of musical languages ​​at the Salerno Conservatory. In 2008 he participated in the selections for Meitech 2008 (Meeting of independent labels – electronic music section), establishing himself as the only winner in Southern Italy. In 2010 he participated in the FLUSSI 2010 and 2014 festival, treading the same stage that involved masters of contemporary electronics such as Murcof, Thomas Fehlmann, Mokira, Mount Kimbie, etc. Opening act for various artists of the Italian and international scene such as Vladislav Delay, Emanuele Errante, etc. In 2013 he signed a publication contract with FatCat. rec. In 2015 he took part in the MiRA festival in Barcelona , on behalf of AV-K, sharing the stage with the likes of Andy Stott, Ben Frost, Richard Devine, Prefuse 73, Nosaj Thing and many more.

Francesco Giannico. An almost maniacal attention to everything that has to do with the concept of “sound landscape” (studied, reinterpreted, distorted), and a long list of collaborations with Italian and international artists (from Bruno Dorella to Amy Denio). Electroacoustic musician, he also deals with video art and web design; Francesco Giannico, 1979, graduated in Musicology and Musical Heritage at the University of Lecce, with a thesis in History of Music for Film. In 2010 he founded AIPS, the Italian archive of Sound Landscapes together with other Italian sound artists, placing the attention of contemporary electroacoustic productions on the concept of soundscape. In 2013 with A.Ballerini he will found the independent label Oak Editions. In 2020 together with Giulio Aldinucci, Emanuele Errante, Enrico Coniglio, Anacleto Vitolo gives life to Zeugma for the promotion of Italian sound artists. In recent years, his attention has been divided between live shows and workshops, training sessions aimed at all age groups with the aim of disseminating the concept of soundscape and everything that revolves around it, primarily sound experimentation. In recent years he has exhibited or exhibited his installations at: LUISS HUB – MIlano, Espronceda Barcelona, ​​Casa Futura Pietra, SOUNDFJORD – London with AIPS Collective (Postcards from Italy) // MACRO MUSEUM in Rome (‘Sleephonia’ with A. Ballerini) // FONDAZIONE CERERE (‘Chronicles’ with A.Ballerini) // MADRID MUESTRARTE EXPOSICION COLLECTIVA (‘Locus Solus’ project with Nicola Colonna) // MAXXI MUSEUM in Rome // RAI RADIO 3 LIVE // BERLIN MADAME CLAUDE // ROME – MLAC – Laboratory Museum of Contemporary Art, Sapienza University, CINEPORTO Bari Apulia Film Commission.
