A new opportunity to get involved: applications are open for the first edition of the “Giovan Battista Calapai and Theodora van Mierlo Benedetti” International Award.
A-HEAD Project, a project promoted by Angelo Azzurro ONLUS, announces the first edition of the “Giovan Battista Calapai and Theodora van Mierlo Benedetti” International Award, dedicated to the memory of two central figures who have contributed significantly to the connection between the ONLUS dedicated to fight against the stigma of mental disorders and the art sector, with the subsequent birth of the A-HEAD project. Angelo Azzurro promotes contemporary art by developing a hermeneutic and cognitive path of mental illnesses by supporting artistic research in all its forms.
The “Giovan Battista Calapai and Theodora van Mierlo Benedetti” International Award wants to support emerging artists: it is aimed at artists under 35 and will consider not a single work of the artist but all artistic production of the last five years.
Participation is free and open to all citizens residing in Italy or abroad, from the age of 18 up to the age of 35 without limits of nationality, sex, ethnicity or religion. You can send your application by May 2, 2022 at 11.59 pm. This year RUFA Director Fabio Mongelli will be part of the Award Jury.
The Award for the winning artist
The announcement provides for the assignment of the “Giovan Battista Calapai Prize”, with a net value of € 1000.00 and including an A-HEAD Edizioni publication dedicated to the artistic research of the winner, and the “Theodora van Mierlo Benedetti Special Mention” of the value net of € 500.00 and including an A-HEAD Edizioni publication dedicated to the artistic research of the selected artist.
