Ilaria Gianni

Ilaria Gianni is an independent curator, art critic and lecturer. She is co-founder of IUNO, and of the itinerant Magic Lantern Film Festival, both in Rome. She has curated exhibitions and independent research projects in museums, institutions, project spaces, such as Palazzo delle Esposizioni, MACRO, MAXXI, FOROF, and National Gallery, Rome; Matadero, Madrid; MOA, Seoul; John Hansard Gallery, Southampton; Kadist, Paris, and GAMeC, Bergamo. She was guest curator at the American Academy in Rome (2016–23), and co-director, and curator at Nomas Foundation (2009–16). She has collaborated with contemporary art fairs, including ARCOmadrid (2018–19), and Artissima (2019–21). Between 2015–17, she co-founded and curated the independent art fair Granpalazzo. She teaches at John Cabot University, RUFA, and IED, Rome; and NABA, Milan. She is a regular contributor to Flash Art and has contributed with texts to various catalogs and magazines such as Arte e Critica, Artforum, Cura, Domus, Mousse, and NERO.
